October
- Northern California Renaissance Faire: Song, dance, fantasy, myth, food, art and learning for the whole family. Casa de Fruta, 6680 Pacheco Pass Highway, Hollister from weekends from Sept 9 to Oct 15.
- The Maze at Ardenwood: Two and half miles of paths through 10 foot high corn. Ardenwood Historic Farm, 24600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont Sept 23 - Oct 31.
- Harvest Festival at Ardenwood: It's harvest time on the farm! Harvest the Indian corn and popcorn, hull walnuts, and press cider while old-time music and crafts. Oct 14-15 at 24600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont, CA.
- Pumpkins in the Park: October 14
- Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival: Three stages of entertainment, games, food, and pumpkins for the whole family. On Main Street between Miramontes and Spruce streets Oct 14-15.
- San Francisco Jazz Festival Oct 20-Nov 12. This festival is one of the largest jazz festivals of the country. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.tickets.com .
- Bonfante Gardens' Scarecrow Alley, Hay Maze and Pumpkin Patch: This garden paradise embraces the fall season with scarecrows and a hay maze weekends from Oct 21 to Nov 12. Trick or Treating Oct 28-29.
- Campbell's Oktoberfest: Downtown Campbell transforms into a rustic German town. Experience homemade German crafts, hearty food, and lively entertainment. Oct 21-22.
- Ainsley House Spooky Night: Flashlight tours of areas not usually open to the public. Ainsley House, 300 Grant Ave, Campbell on Oct 21-22.
- Halloween Haunts: travel a haunted trail filled with surprises. Share stories and songs around a campfire. Reservations required. Hidden Villa Farm, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills on Oct 27-28.
- The Heritage Harvest Festival: old-time music, square dancing, children's craft area, harvest activities, draft horse demonstrations, pumpkin patch and more. Wilder Ranch State Park on Oct 28.
- Jack-o-Lantern Jamboree at Fairyland: Bigger kids bouncer, face painting, balloon twisting, creatively crafted tunnels, costume parades, unlimited rides, pumpkin decoration at our pumpkin patch, and the spooktacular Old West Junction Ghost Town! Oct 28-29 Children's Fairyland, 699 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland.
November and December
- Bonfante Gardens' Scarecrow Alley, and Hay Maze: This garden paradise embraces the fall season with scarecrows and a hay maze weekends from Oct 21 to Nov 12.
- Fantasy of Lights: Enjoy a holiday drive-through lights spectacular for family, friends and fun. Vasona Park from Nov 23-Dec 31.
- Fantasy in the Woods: Be dazzled by twinkling lights, listen to classic Christmas music and perky seasonal tunes, enjoy hot cider and gingerbread, and visit Santa. Environmental Education Center, Tilden Regional Park. Berkeley Date TBA. For more information call (510) 524-6773.
- Holiday Lights 2005: Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park is transformed into a winter wonderland with thousands of twinkling lights, themed rides, and Santa's Workshop, plus for the first two weekends a display of beautifully themed Christmas trees, provided by Rebekah Children's Services. Begins Nov 24th and runs 14 magical nights on selected dates through December 23rd. Bonfante Gardens Holiday Lights is a separate ticketed event. 2005 Lotsa Card, 2005 Premium Passes, 2005 Admission Tickets, and 2005 Complimentary Tickets are not valid for this event.
- Christmas in the Park: When you come to the Park, plan to bring a toy for the Toys for Tots kiosk, canned goods for the Second Harvest Food Bank kiosk or a child's book to support the InnVision Literacy program. Plaza De Cesar Chavez Nov 24 to Jan 1.
- Victorian Christmas: Celebrate the holiday season in Victorian style! Visit the beautifully decorated Patterson House, sing Christmas carols, search for the Yule log and visit Father Christmas. Ardenwood Historic Farm, 24600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont, Dec 1-3.
- The San Jose Holiday Parade: Giant helium balloons, over two dozen marching bands, creative floats, dozens of specialty units, clowns and Santa Claus. The parade starts at Santa Clara Street and Delmas Avenue, near the HP Pavilion, at 8:30 a.m. proceeding east on Santa Clara Street. It will turn right on Market Street marching south past Plaza De Cesar Chavez Park and ending at San Carlos Street Dec 3.
